3 MINUTES MICROWAVE OATS PORRIDGE

Serving size - 1

Preparation time - 5 minutes

Cooking time - 3 minutes

Rice porridge is the most popular, healthy and traditional one in Tamilnadu. This is our old custom, but it is continuing until now. In the olden days, the basic idea of serving porridge in the temples are to avoid hungry in the poor world. It is very tasty and delicious to take with chana kuzhambu or chana tamarind kuzhambu. It keeps our body cool and healthy. In the modern days, we are facing lots of health issues. To avoid those stuffs, we have to give more concentration on healthy food recipes. Oats is very good for health especially to heart disease. So that, instead of rice I have used oats in this recipe.

Ingredients

Oats - 1/4 cup
Water - 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 cups
Buttermilk - 3 tbsp
Salt - as required

Finely chopped

Carrrot - 2 tbsp
Onion - 2 tbsp
Green chilly - 1
Ginger - 1 tsp (optional)
Mango - 2 tsp (optional)
Cilantro - few for garnishing (optional)

Method

Add oats and 1/2 cup water to a microwave safe bowl. Cook for a minute.

Again, add 1/2 cup of water to the oats and cook for 1 more minute.

Add buttermik, carrot, onion, green chillies, ginger, mango, 1/2 cup of water and salt to the oats. Cook for 1 more minute.

Check whether the oats are fully cooked. Garnish it with cilantro and serve it with chana tamarind kuzhambu.
